U18 GIRLS: WALSALL/STOURBRIDGE

The Tamworth under 18 girls had their last game of the season against a Walsall/Stourbridge combo team on Friday 26th April. It took place at Stourbridge rugby club on the floodlight 4g pitch and allowed for the girls to show off how well they have gelled this past year - a final score of 0-82 would be a testament to that. With a crowd gathered and a run-out song playing, it was bound to be an atmospheric match; girls played out of position and everyone’s roles on the team still fell into place.

Tamworth quickly secured possession from the kick off and it was a long time before Walsall/Stourbridge managed to secure any ball for them selves, as within the first ten minutes the scoreboard was already changing. Lily was the first to score, closely followed by Ayala, and both of the tries were converted by Brogan. The Tamworth attack was constant and flowing, with support lines being ran almost every time and offloads becoming almost as frequent as rucks, both of them helping to create tries. Remaining scorers from the first half were Ellie, Lily, Millie, Grace J, Ayala, and Lucie. Brogan successfully converted all but one.

Tamworth continued to dominate the game in the second half; forwards running through the opposition and backs running around them, and more tries were scored. Grace J(2), Eren, and Poppy were the ones to put the ball over the try line, with Brogan having a 100% conversion success rate during the second half.

Dames of the game were Ayala for the forwards, for her strong runs, tries and dominant tackles; and Brogan for the backs, for showing great composure at fly-half and using her distribution techniques to create space and tries, as well as her conversions.
