As we enter February we are approaching the last 8-10 weeks of the playing season.
We have now only 5 league games left for the 1st XV with last league fixture on April 5th.
Sadly, there is an inevitability looming of the 1st XV dropping down a level having spent two seasons at Level 6.
It’s been a tough time for all, for the Players to play, Supporters to watch and the Coaching Team to galvanise a Squad further impacted by injuries to Players depleting the available numbers even further.
Despite the valiant efforts by those selected, it is very much a time to regroup as such - go down a level and build again.
The league we currently are playing in has many good sides and is a brutal league within which to introduce so many young players who are still developing physically and against much more experienced opposition.
As a Club we must remain positive as we are fielding three Senior teams most weeks, this is better than a lot of Midlands Clubs currently and the atmosphere in the Clubhouse is still spirited given the circumstances – Please let’s keep this up folks.
On the Coaching side Tommy Franks has this week given Notice he will not be Coaching next season. We must respect his decision – and place on record our thanks to him for his efforts over the last twenty odd years as a Player, Captain and Club Head Coach.
We are now looking to re structure the Coaching team and will hopefully have this all-in place by April to plan the summer training in preparation for the forthcoming Centenary season 2025/2026.
We look to the Clubs members to rally round and support the 1st XV in what has been a difficult period and keep this up through to April and beyond.
Also, and this is key we need the player group to persevere through to mid-April and not give up the fight.
This has been a difficult update to deliver but on behalf of the Committee please continue to support the players as Sponsors/Parents/Supporters and Friends.
Thanks to all Club Members, Staff and Committee for all your support throughout the year to date
Yours in Rugby
