Tamworth 60 Newcastle 14

Tamworth welcomed Newcastle to Wiggington Park on Saturday wearing their unfamiliar blue change kit looking to get back on track after being rather humbled by Luctonians seven days earlier.
This they did in some style running in eight tries but not before getting off to their traditional slow start falling behind in the eighth minute to a well worked converted try from the visitors. 0-7
This was the wakeup call Tamworth needed and they steadily built pressure on Newcastle and levelled proceedings on twenty minutes Jay Rosenbach adding to his already impressive scoring streak this season breaking free to score under the posts. Danny Norton added the extras. 7-7
The hosts took the lead for the first time on 28 minutes Leighton Norton profiting from some patient work from the pack as they attacked the try line. The extra’s were added by his brother and Tamworth were starting to build a bit of momentum 14-7
Things got even better just five minutes later when lock Liam McGreevy burst through the Newcastle defence in midfield. It looked as if he would reach the line himself but instead chose the option of a deft offload to the onrushing Ben Archer who crossed in the corner. The extra two points were dispatched closely followed a Norton penalty and Tamworth went into the break with a healthy 24-7 lead.
Tamworth were forced into a change at the break Callum Bayliss replacing the impressive Matt Storer (knee) in the front row.
It would only take seven minutes of the second period before the hosts effectively put the game beyond the reach of Newcastle Archer getting his second finishing off some more patient build up stretching for the line adding to another Norton penalty 34-7
With the game all but won Tamworth emptied their bench Eamonn Carroll and Joe Mason replacing Dylan Whittington and Martin Dearne respectively.
It was Rosenbach’s turn to add his second try of the game finishing a sublime passage of play that saw all fifteen play their part in a superb team try. 39-7
To their credit Newcastle kept plugging away and would score the next try their centre dotting down under the posts. 39-14.
The Norton’s combined for the next score Danny converting Leighton’s try. 46-14.
Tamworth finished the game in style with two more tries both Archer and Rosenbach completing hat trick’s Norton’s trusty right boot converting both to round off an excellent team performance.
