Tamworth welcomed West Bridgford to Wiggington Park for their final home game of what has been a torrid season. With relegation now all but guaranteed its now a case of beginning to build towards next season.
Tamworth started this game really strongly carrying with some purpose forcing the visitors into some early defensive action. But as has been the case so many times this year all their good work resulted in them falling behind when the ball spilled loose and West Bridgford pounced on it to score.
This was soon followed by another well worked West Bridgford converted try giving them a 14 point lead.
Tamworth stuck to task with an extended period of pressure on the visitors try line ending with Tamworth halving the deficit when second row Liam McGreevy crossed the whitewash. Jack Dalton added the conversion
West Bridgford then took the game by the scruff and moved away on the scoreboard scoring six more tries with only a couple of Dalton penalties in reply but as in previous games the scoreline doesn’t necessarily reflect how Tamworth played the game with some great individual performances with Jack Dalton and Sam Hinckley both shining.
Although West Bridgford were more than good value for their comfortable win there were some really bright periods of play from Tamworth which hopefully combined with a strong summer and pre season will set them up to push on into next season.
Tamworth have a difficult run in with two away games against the top two sides in the league but all they can do is use them to continue their rebuild as they look towards next season.
Final Score
Tamworth 13
West Bridgford 50
