Tamworth made the short trip down the M6 to Handsworth Rugby club looking for a 3rd straight victory in the Staffs Merit Table League,
Tamworth welcomed back to the line-up, Forwards John Smith, Dave Yardley, Joe Bennet and Captain Jez Sandhu. The back line also had changes in returns of Matty Archer after a long injury lay off, Chris Sebright, Gareth Pemberton & Kai Evans.

The game started with the home side opting to kick deep to the 22-yard line where Matty Archer scooped up the ball and ran it back, some great foot work and speed allowed him to avoid the rushing defence and he touched the ball down for 5 points with Sid Wood converting.

This pattern of rugby became the blue print for the afternoon with score after score going in. The Forwards controlled the ball well at the breakdowns and set plays allowing the slick Sid Wood to feed the back line.

Huge credit to Handsworth Rugby Club 2nds as at no point did they fold or give in, they came back at Tamworth to score 2 very good try’s and bring the away team back to reality,

Tamworth secured a 3rd straight merit table win with some very accurate and clinical finishing,

Man of the Match was Connor McEntee for his extremely high work rate, even though he didn’t get on the score sheet he followed every line break looking to support his team mates.
