This Sunday Tamworth travelled to Ashfield for a friendly match. The weather was warm and dry and the conditions were great.
Tamworth opened up the scoring in the first 2 minutes with a speedy try from Katie Simpson followed by tries every few minutes from Captain Emma March, Elise Dickie, Caitlin Redgate, Katie Harris and Josie Brown – conversions by Dickie left the girls 45-0 up by the end of the first half.
Ashfield managed to break through in the second half to score twice and convert once but further tries from Harris and Brown gave Tamworth the clear lead to win on the day.
Coach Asa Skipp said “Looking at the size of Ashfield and their warm up purely of smashing pads I asked the girls to play one way, fast and wide. The girls have trained so hard all summer and with the perfect conditions on the day, they were exceptional at moving the ball. Aimee Tudor has really come on this year but the result came from great teamwork.”
