The match against Old Halesonians under 18 girls presented challenges that Tamworth fell just short of containing. On Sunday the 16th October the girls played a tough game at home and were defeated 42-45. Two Hales players were loaned to Tamworth due to injuries sustained in the game and previously injured players being unfit to play. The game started with 14v14 but unfortunately, due to injuries, ended with 11v12 players.
The first half allowed for Tamworth to establish a lead over Old Halesonians with tries for Lucie(2) and Martha, all of which were converted by Brogan, and one try for the opposition. This brought the half time score to 21-7.
The second half, however, prompted the rival team to exploit Tamworth’s defence and surpass them on the scoreboard. With six tries for Old Halesonians and four conversions, added up against two second half for Lucie and one from Ayala (all 3 converted by Brogan!), the final score was 42-45.
Dames of the game were Martha and Bella. Martha, from a back’s perspective made amazing line breaks and Bella, as a forward, was always one of the first to the rucks.
