Sunday 17th March saw Tamworth take on the Walsall/Stourbridge combination team for their penultimate game in the Staffordshire cup. Conditions were made for a forwards game with a puddled pitch that had all of the girls sinking into and sliding over the ground. The final score was 41-19 to Tamworth after a hard fought and intense game.
Three tries were scored by Tamworth in the first half thanks to Ellie, Poppy, and Ayala— the first of which was converted by Izzy. It was matched by the opposition as they too scored three tries but managed to convert two of the three to lead 17-19 at half time. Walsall/Stourbridge had a strong scrum and robust tackles in the first half but with the start of the second half, Tamworth’s robustness shone through and contributed to the further four tries scored. Tries scorers were Ella, Ellie, Ayala, and Lucie and Izzy converted two of the four successfully to bring the final score to 41-19.
Dames of the game were Ayala in the backs and Grace in the forwards. Ayala for her work-effort and success with her running lines and Grace for her constant pressure off of the scrums.
