Sunday the 11th of September saw the Tamworth u16 girls host the season’s first ‘pitch up and play’ event; with new kit, new players, and new determination for the games ahead. It was a successful day for everyone involved, with both parents and players coming together to enjoy the day. An impressive number of over sixty girls showed up to enjoy some friendly competition, providing enough players for four fifteen aside teams with substitutions. We had seventeen Tamworth girls on the pitches with Stafford, Walsall, Leek, Longton, Notts Sapphires, Old Halesonians and Hinckley making up the rest of the teams.
Prior to kick off a 2 minuet silence was impeccably observed allowing players, coaches and supporters a moment to reflect on their memories of Queen Elizabeth II.
Our girls were distinguishable amongst the crowds in their new Tamworth gear, recently sponsored and funded by our new supporters. It helped to highlight our newer players, Maddie, Izzy L and Elisha during their first significant amount of game time; and Caitlin’s first time wearing the Tamworth colours.
Tamworth try scorers: Ellie, Lucie and Grace achieving two each, with both Millie and Becky getting their respective ones.
Every Tamworth girl did the club proud, communicating well with other players, running hard and tackling even harder!
